This guide explains how to connect Power BI to Risk Cloud so you can automatically import data from Table Reports using a pre-built template.

Step 1: Get the Power BI template

Reach out to your Customer Success Manager, or LogicGate’s Developer Relations team at developer-relations@logicgate.com, to request the PowerBI Template.pbit file.

Step 2: Generate an Access Key

Navigate to your User Profile (the person icon in the top-right corner) and open the Access Key tab to generate one. Keep in mind:
  • Generating an Access Key requires the API Access module entitlement.
  • Access Keys expire after one year.
  • Store the key securely — generating a new one invalidates the old one.
  • You can set up a reminder job to renew the key before it expires.
See Authentication for more on managing Access Keys.

Step 3: Find your Table Report ID(s)

The Table Report ID is found in your browser’s URL bar after navigating to the report in Risk Cloud — it’s the last eight characters of the URL. For example, in a URL ending in .../report/01Z7lWQ4, the ID is 01Z7lWQ4.

Step 4: Connect to Power BI

Open the template and enter:
  • Your Risk Cloud environment URL (without a trailing slash)
  • Your generated Access Key
  • Up to 5 Table Report IDs
Click Load to import the data into a table.

Step 5: Build and customize your reports

Once your data has loaded, you can:
  • Create visualizations and dashboards.
  • Integrate with additional internal systems.
  • Perform deeper analysis directly within Power BI.

Troubleshooting tips

Authentication errors

  • Verify that your Access Key is valid.
  • Confirm you have Table Report Edit Access via your assigned Role.
  • Ensure the Data Source permissions are set to the Anonymous credential type and Public privacy level.

Data type errors

  • Check for duplicate column names across your Table Reports.
  • In Power BI, set data type detection to never detect data types automatically.

Known limitation

Automatic data refreshes aren’t supported, due to Power BI’s restrictions on dynamic data sources.
