Updating roles on a single user is a common task in Risk Cloud, and the User API supports it directly.

Prerequisites

  • Obtain your API Access Token or pull the Risk Cloud Postman Collection (see the Postman guide) to get started.
  • Required user role: Admin, for the PUT endpoints at minimum.
  • You cannot update users who are auto-provisioned — those users must be managed through your IDP.

1. Get User

Retrieve the user you want to update:

2. Update User Details

Update the user’s individual details, such as email address, time zone, first name, or last name.

Request

Response

Returns the updated User object. Re-run step 1 to verify the changes (allow a few seconds for the cache to update).

3. Update User Roles

Update the user’s role assignments. Specify the userId, then update the roles array in the request body to add and/or remove roles.

Request

Include an id object for each role you want the user to keep, and add a new id object for each role you want to grant. Update the roles array to reflect the full set of roles you want the user to have after the change.

Response

Returns the updated User object. Re-run step 1 to verify the changes (allow a few seconds for the cache to update).
