Overview

Automated Evidence Collection (AEC) lets you upload evidence files into Risk Cloud without granting the uploading system direct access to Risk Cloud, and without requiring a person to manually attach files. It’s well suited to secure, custom, and on-premises environments that need to push evidence into Risk Cloud on a schedule or in response to an event.

Setup requirements

AEC requires a Risk Cloud application with two interconnected workflows. The Controls Compliance Application available through Risk Cloud Exchange is a good starting point if you don’t already have a suitable application. All requests require the standard bearer token Authorization header — see Authentication.

Process overview

Uploading evidence is a four-step process:
  1. Obtain the STEP_ID of the step where the evidence record should be created.
  2. Obtain the FIELD_ID of the field the attachment should be placed on.
  3. Obtain the RECORD_ID of the parent record the evidence belongs to.
  4. Send the POST request that uploads the file.

1. Get the step ID

Web application: Open the step in the step builder; the ID is in the URL: https://your-company.logicgate.com/build/steps/STEP_ID. API: GET /api/v1/workflows returns workflow objects with nested step arrays; each step object includes an id.

2. Get the field ID

Web application: Open the step builder, click the edit pencil on the target field, and read the field ID from the modal. API: GET /api/v1/fields/workflow/{workflow-id}/values, using the workflow ID from step 1, returns field objects with the id you need.

3. Get the record ID

Web application: Open the record; the ID is in the URL: https://your-company.logicgate.com/records/RECORD_ID. API: See Risk Cloud API: Record Search.

4. Upload the file

POST /api/v1/evidence?parentRecordId={RECORD_ID}&fieldId={FIELD_ID}&stepId={STEP_ID} Send the file as multipart/form-data with a key named file.
