Reference the Bulk Link Records help article for in-depth information about the functionality and the permissions it requires. Obtain your API Access Token to get started — see Authentication. A Bulk Link Record (BLR) request links records between two workflows in bulk from an uploaded file. The workflow is: create a request, upload and verify a file against it, process the file, then check the result.

Step 1: Set up the request

Check for an incomplete request

Only one BLR request per unique workflow/step combination can run at a time (the reverse combination is allowed concurrently). The combination becomes available again once the existing request completes or fails. GET /api/v1/bulk-link-records/hasRequestInProgress Returns a boolean — true if a matching request is already in progress.

Create the request

Creates a new BLR request. Check for an incomplete request first. POST /api/v1/bulk-link-records/source/{sourceWorkflowId}/target/{targetWorkflowId} Returns a BulkLinkRecordsResult object, reused by every endpoint below:

Step 2: Upload and verify the file

Download the template

GET /api/v1/bulk-link-records/template/{requestId} Returns the base .xlsx template to populate with data.

Upload the file

Performs a high-level validation check only — it does not perform detailed validation or link any records. POST /api/v1/bulk-link-records/import/{requestId} Returns a BulkLinkRecordsResult object (see above).

Delete the file

Removes the uploaded file so a new one can be uploaded via the endpoint above. DELETE /api/v1/bulk-link-records/{requestId}/file Returns a BulkLinkRecordsResult object.

Step 3: Process the file and complete linking

Process the file

Runs detailed-level validation and, if it passes, links the records. The file should already have passed the high-level validation from the upload step. POST /api/v1/bulk-link-records/process/{requestId} Returns 200 with an empty body. One of two outcomes follows:
  • Failed detailed-level validation — the request status becomes FILE_ERRORS and no records are linked. Download the validation error summary (below).
  • Passed detailed-level validation — the request status becomes COMPLETED or COMPLETED_WITH_ERRORS and records are linked. Download the completed summary (below).

Download the file validation error summary

Use this when the request status is FILE_ERRORS. GET /api/v1/bulk-link-records/error-template/{requestId} Returns the validation error summary as an .xlsx file.

Download the completed (with errors) summary

Use this when the request status is COMPLETED or COMPLETED_WITH_ERRORS. GET /api/v1/bulk-link-records/summary/{requestId} Returns the completed/completed-with-errors summary as an .xlsx file.

Other operations

Find a request

GET /api/v1/bulk-link-records/{requestId} Returns a single BulkLinkRecordsResult.

Find all requests

GET /api/v1/bulk-link-records/all Accepts standard pagination parameters (e.g. sort, size). Returns a page of BulkLinkRecordsResult objects that the requesting user has access to.

Deactivate a request

DELETE /api/v1/bulk-link-records/{requestId}/deactivate Returns the deactivated BulkLinkRecordsResult.
