# Risk Cloud API: Getting Started

> Overview of the Risk Cloud API, authentication, pagination, rate limits, and where to go next.

The Risk Cloud API is a collection of RESTful API endpoints that empower you and your team to
directly integrate, automate, and build with the Risk Cloud. JSON-based payloads are standard,
with certain endpoints supporting CSV and XLSX exports.

> [!NOTE]
>
> API access requires purchasing the API Access Add-On Feature.

## Authentication

Risk Cloud uses OAuth 2.0 for authentication, using a bearer Access Token in the `Authorization`
HTTP header. See [Authentication](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/authentication.md) for how to obtain and manage
access tokens.

## Postman

A user-friendly Postman workspace makes it easy to build and refine integrations. See the
[Postman guide](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/quick-start/postman.md) for setup.

## Pagination

The API implements offset pagination so endpoints returning large datasets can be processed in
predictable chunks. See [Pagination](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/pagination.md) for the full contract.

## Rate Limit

LogicGate recommends maintaining a rate limit of **10 requests per second** to ensure optimal and
efficient performance.

## Getting Data

The API enables data export for data lakes and dashboard tools. Relevant guides:

## Modifying Data

The API supports actions including record/user creation and field/attachment updates:

* [Create Users](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/risk-cloud-api-create-users.md)
* [Create Records](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/risk-cloud-api-create-records.md)

* [Upload Attachments](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/risk-cloud-api-upload-attachments.md)

## Webhooks

Risk Cloud Webhooks enhance integrations by pushing automation event data to external systems.
See the [Webhooks guide](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/quick-start/risk-cloud-webhooks.md).

## API Troubleshooting

See the troubleshooting guide for common issues like authorization errors and authentication
problems.
