# Risk Cloud API: Viewing Fields

> Look up a Workflow's Fields and their IDs, used for updating Records and reading current field values.

## Background

When working with the Risk Cloud API, Field IDs are commonly required for tasks such as updating
Records. The following endpoint returns an array of Field objects that exist within a given
Workflow.

Before making these requests you'll need a bearer token — see
[Authentication](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/authentication.md).

## Usage

Obtaining all Fields of a Workflow requires two steps:

1. Obtain a Workflow ID.
2. Request the Workflow's Fields.

### Step 1: Obtain a Workflow ID

To retrieve Workflow IDs in your environment, make the following request:

```
GET /api/v1/applications?generic=true
```

```bash theme={null}
curl --request GET 'https://your-company.logicgate.com/api/v1/applications?generic=true' \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer {ACCESS_TOKEN}'
```

The response contains an array of all Applications. Workflow IDs are located as the values of
`id` properties within `workflows` objects in the JSON:

```json theme={null}
[
  {
    "workflows": [
      {
        "id": null
      }
    ]
  }
]
```

See [View Applications, Workflows, and Steps](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/risk-cloud-api-view-applications-workflows-and-steps.md)
for the full response shape.

### Step 2: Request the Workflow's Fields

With a Workflow ID in hand, retrieve all Fields on that Workflow:

```
GET /api/v1/fields/workflow/{workflowId}/values
```

```bash theme={null}
curl --request GET 'https://your-company.logicgate.com/api/v1/fields/workflow/{workflowId}/values' \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer {ACCESS_TOKEN}'
```

The response contains a list of all Fields on the given Workflow. Field IDs from this response can
be used to update Records or read current Field values.
