# Risk Cloud API: Create Records

> Create a new Risk Cloud record on a step, including field values, due date, and assignee, via the Record API.

The Record API lets you create new Risk Cloud records, populate field data, schedule due dates, and set assignees. Obtain your API Access Token or pull the Risk Cloud Postman Collection to get started — see [Authentication](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/api-usage/authentication.md) and the [Postman guide](https://developers.logicgate.ai/guides/quick-start/postman.md).

## Create Records endpoint

Creates a record on a given step with configurable field values and an assignee. The requesting user's token must have Write access to create records on the given step.

**POST /api/v1/records/steps**
